Day-2: Cruising Memories are all we have!!!
Overview: This is my second installment of my memories of cruising. I am doing this for my own sanity and to remind everyone of our positive times in the past and what the future might bring. During these troubling times with politics and a global pandemic, focusing on something we all consider to be positive is good therapy. Add in your comments of how or what you would do on your day-two when cruising. Lets have some fun with this and leave our negativity out. Try just to have fun in our thoughts. Disclaimer: I am retired 63, a stroke victim yet healthy now, gone on 24 cruises, and spoiled to the core. My reference to the NCL Haven™ is not meant to show what I can afford or I am better than anyone else. It is just my personal favorite experiences. Truth be told, my best cruise was my first. That was 40 years ago, in the cheapest inside cabin on the SS Norway. It was my honeymoon and it was magical. My next cruise in the end of May 2021, will be my 41st wedding anniversary on the same cruise line, now called NCL with my Adult Children. A full circle over 40 + Years. Day 2: Cruise Memories 06:45 AM: I just can’t sleep in today, just can’t. Shower and in-suite coffee on the balcony. All you can see and hear are lovely waves. This is what I have been waiting for all year. 07:30 AM: First Breakfast in the Haven Restaurant. We start with French Press Coffee, of course. Appetizer of smoked salmon from the side fresh buffet, those danishes are calling my name though. With a huge smile, I order my favorite Breakfast, Steak & Over Easy Eggs skip the potato’s. Whole wheat toast with grape jelly. At the end, I always get one single danish. I am trying to not gain my normal 10+ lbs. from this cruise. I am quite clear in my own mind, I will fail. 09:00 AM: Explore the ship. Even after 24 cruises, going deck to deck is so much fun for me. People are just getting up. Still easy to get an elevator and no real crowds in the main walkways. Important to me to find the cigar bar for later enjoyment and there it is next to the Mojito Bar. Also, where is the slot tournament to be held at 01:00 PM, priorities folks. Where is the gym and finally where all the hot tubs on board. 10:30 AM: Gym. 30-minutes on the treadmill. Attempt to allow a bit of those food calories to get used. I know by day three, the exercise will be doomed. All I can think about is going down those huge water slides and driving the electric go carts. My hope is the lines are not to long. On my way back to my suite, I hear that wonderful sound of metal drums by the main pool. The smile begins to become a part of my day, as it always does on past cruises. Entering my suite, my family asks where I have been. I tell them and they are disappointed I did not take them with me. What I see is none of them have even gotten out of bed yet. 12:00 PM: Lunch by the Haven Pool another favorite pastime. Time for the best cheese burger on any cruise ship. No bun, of course. Really, no bun. French Fries YES, bun no? My wife orders a bottle of wine and takes half of it goes back to the room. God love that upgrade to the Premium Plus Drink Package. My wife loves ordering a bottle vs. a glass. It is a vacation isn’t it. This was her plan and I support it. She loves wine in the suite for night time balcony viewing. 01:00 PM: Slot Tournament, my entire family is entered, it is a tradition. We learned to have a few drinks first, because it is so stressful. We always play and never win. This year, my wife whom never gambles makes it to round two. We are so proud of her and consider that a victory. Since I am in the casino anyway, where is that “Buffalo Gold” machine. I feel the cash leaving my wallet forever. Why do I watch those YouTube Slot Guru’s. They are not good for my pocketbook. 02:30 PM: A littler poorer yet still happy, I get ready for my first water slide experience. Every cruise I do the same thing. I find someone whom is a afraid to do the water slide, and talk them into doing it with me. My record for number of consecutive slides is 10. The issue are those darn stairs, I am no spring chicken anymore. All the kids think I am funny because I am as excited as they are to slide. My last victim was my wife who became a huge fan. 04:00 PM: Did I hear “BINGO” or was it “Deal or No Deal”. It is like a magnet for me. The crowds, the joy of watching someone WIN. I debate myself. Do I start drinking NOW or hold off until right before dinner. Hold off today, smart move. I go back to the suite through the casino watching a older woman (that is saying a lot, I am 63) get a jackpot on the machine that took all my money earlier. Happy for her though, kind of. 05:30 PM: There are some ship snacks waiting on the table in the suite, which is always different every day. Today it is those world famous chocolate covered strawberries. Time to clean up and dress for dinner and the show. My wife as usually, is looking at the sun burn she got sitting on the deck and saying, “I think I over did it a bit.” I notice she is in a very happy mood and the bottle of wine in the room is out. I ask her when she started drinking? She smiles and tells me, 12:00 PM, at lunch. Stupid question on my part. I am the light weight in my family on drinking. However, when I get serious, I am serious. Pre-Dinner drinks on the balcony, it is so lovely. 07:00 PM: Dinner tonight is a specialty restaurant. My habit is to go to the steak place the first night. Martini shaken not stirred, slightly dirty with two blue cheese stuffed olives. Shrimp cocktail, Fresh Bread with really good butter, Blue Cheese Wedge and a Rib Eye Medium Rare Plus. I am so full, I simply can’t eat all the fully loaded potato. Maybe a few bits. I have to sit for a while and have some Coffee with Baileys. I am feeling no pain and starting to relax a bit. New York Cheese cake is the finale. “There is cheating and then there is Cheese Cake!” 09:30 PM: I know I am tired because I would usually be in bed by now. The food, drink and excitement of the day is telling my body, pass on the show. I used to listen to myself, not anymore. I will get my second wind shortly and so will you. The show which on the first night is usually a production. We always sit in the last row on the end by the door. We have seen some fantastic and not so fantastic shows. We are not expecting much. Then the music starts and it is all Latin dancing. 90-minutes has never go so quick. This show was incredible. My wife for the first time was on her feet doing a standing ovation. 11:00 PM: This is when my wife and I start to argue. She wants to party some more, I want to chill in the room. Translation, go to sleep. I know her, the moment she hits the pillow, with the sun she got that day, add the food and drink, that is all she wrote. We get to the suite, on the desk are the passes for the excursion we are taking in the morning, I love that. Never gets old. I, just want to dream again about my next day’s breakfast of Steak and Eggs. Tomorrow I add a waffle I thing. We attempt to look at the agenda for the next day however never make it more then 10-minutes before the waves put us to sleep. Perfect second day in my book.

Los Angeles to Las Vegas Supercharger Guide & Review
As a first road trip, I took my new 100D Model S from Los Angeles to Las Vegas this weekend. I decided to check out each Supercharging station to see which ones I would like to use in the future. For distance calculation purposes, I used the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Below is my review of them with grades on the following metrics: Overall: Overall score Availability: Availability of Supercharger stalls Accessibility: How easily the stop is accessed from the freeway Amenities: Overall grade for shops/restaurants/etc. Restrooms: Grade for cleanliness/# of restrooms Food: Grade for food options/quality Proximity: How close the stalls are to the amenities Rancho Cucamonga: 12 stalls Address: 12642 Cultural Center Dr, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739 Distance between charging stations: 65 miles to Barstow Distance from Vegas: 221 miles Distance from LA: 48.1 miles This one was full when I was arriving but luckily someone was pulling out as I came in. This seems like it is a highly trafficed spot as it's at the 210/15 merger. This location is right next to the Victoria Gardens mall (https://www.victoriagardensie.com). There's a variety of restaurants and shops you can check out on their website, along with an AMC theater. The stalls are in a back place in the parking lot that is not directly next to the mall entrance. Overall: B+ The lack of availability brings down what would otherwise be a solid A. Availability: C High traffic freeway junction has potential to create more demand than supply of stations. Accessibility: A- Pretty close to freeway with easy on/off when there's no traffic. Amenities: A A full mall with movie theater. Restrooms: A Many standard mall quality restrooms. Food: A Lots of choices in the mall. Proximity: B+ The stations are in the back of the parking lot not super close to the mall entrance. Barstow: 16 stalls Address: 2812 Lenwood Rd, Barstow, CA 92311 Distance between charging stations: 65 miles from Rancho Cucamonga, 16.5 miles from Yermo Distance from Vegas: 157 miles Distance from LA: 111 miles I thought that this location would be very heavily used and unavailable but during my to/from trips it always seemed to have some availability. This location is next to a Chili's and Aryes hotel with some nicer restrooms in it than your normal gas station. It's a 5 min walk to In N Out/Starbucks with a large selection of almost every fast food option available too. This Barstow stop also has an outlet mall which gives further food options within it and a shopping destination. Overall: A Lots of food options, cleaner restrooms, pretty easy on/off, and not too far from the amenities makes this a solid stop. Accessibility: A- Pretty easy to get on/off but have to drive through Lenwood road a bit to get to the stalls. Availability: A- 16 stalls offer a lot of availability but I could see it getting jammed during peak travel times. Amenities: A Solid food options and outlet mall. Restrooms: A The Ayres Hotel and Chili's have better than gas station. Food: A+ Lots of options. Proximity: A- ~5 min walk to almost everything. Yermo: 18 stalls Address: 36017 Calico Rd., Yermo, CA 92398 Distance between charging stations: 16.5 miles from Barstow, 52 miles from Baker Distance from Vegas: 140 miles Distance from LA: 127 miles When Barstow is too busy, this can be a great plan B, and is a great stop in and of itself. This is my second favorite supercharging station on the trip. It has an easy on/off from the freeway and the stalls are right next to an Eddie World which offers a host of vendors and food options. Check out their full offerings on their website: eddieworld.com Overall: A+ Very easily accessed, lots of availability, and Eddie World is a surprisingly cool stop. Accessibility: A+ Very easy on/off the freeway. Availability: A Decent amount of stalls. Amenities: A Eddie World has everything you want from a highway stop. Restrooms: A+ From Eddie World's website "Our beautiful 26,000 sq. foot store is designed to provide you an immaculate clean restroom experience every time you visit us. We are dedicated to clean bathrooms, it is our passion, period." Food: A+ Lots of food options in Eddie World Proximity: A Stalls are a quick walk to Eddie World entrance. Baker: 40 stalls Address: 71808 Baker Blvd, Baker, CA 92309 Distance between charging stations: 52 miles from Yermo, 51 miles from Primm/Stateline Distance from Vegas: 89 miles Distance from LA: 179 miles This is the mega charging lot with 40 stalls for maximum availability. Directly next to the station is a DQ Chill & Grill, Tapioca Express, Orange Julius and convenience store. Baker also offers a host of fast food options down the main drag, which are a bit of a hike if you're walking from the station, especially in the heat. The main food attraction in Baker is the Mad Greek Cafe which is 0.4 miles/8 minute walk from the station. There's also the Alien Fresh Jerky store in Baker, which has a variety of exotic jerkys and is about 0.7 miles/15 min walk from the station. The restrooms next to the station are "gas station gross" but not the worst ever. There's also few restrooms and tour busses stop here which can cause lines. Overall: B This stop is really only good for getting your supercharging on, and it does that well with 40 stalls available. Availability: A+ Largest amount of superchargers on the trip. Accessibility: A Pretty close to freeway on/off ramps. Amenities: B- The close vendors are a bit lacking. Restrooms: C- Closest restrooms are on the grimier side of gas station stalls and can warrant long queues from tour bus stops. Food: B Smattering of fast food options and Mad Greek Cafe Proximity: A/B- Very close to the shops mentioned but B- for the better option (Mad Greek Cafe) Primm (Stateline): 10 stalls Address: 31900 S Las Vegas Blvd, Primm, NV 89019 Distance between charging stations: 51 miles from Baker charger, 36 miles from first Vegas city supercharger Distance from Vegas: 39 miles Distance from LA: 230 miles This is a great stop. There seems to be a lot of availability here and I stopped on my way out and way back. This is right next to the Primm casino area which gives you a chance to do some low stakes gambling if you are so inclined. You could also walk or take a shuttle or get over to Buffalo Bills in order to ride a roller coaster or log flume Fri-Sun. There's a nearby convenience store w/ Starbucks by a gas station, a variety of fast food options, a Mad Greek Cafe and your standard array of budget casino food offerings (cheap buffets, cafes, etc.) in the closest Primm Valley Casino. There's also the Factory Outlet malls if you want to get some shopping on. Overall, this is a great place to top off to have some miles to get in/around/out of the city before you get into town or get a semi or full charge on your way out. This is my favorite one on the trip but I may skip it if there's a lot of traffic and don't need the juice. Overall: A+ Lots to do at this stop with lots of convenience. Availability: A Only 10 stalls, but there was no one else there with me either time I stopped. Accessibility: A (no traffic) or D+ (with traffic) This is a very easy on/off if there's no traffic but could be a nightmare to get on/off if there's a traffic jam around Stateline. Amenities: A+ Everything you want from a highway stop and more because of the casino options. Restrooms: A Casino restrooms are always better than gas station ones, and the ones in the Starbucks/convenience store are nice too. Food: A Lots of options. Proximity of stalls to Amenities: A Very short walk to the Starbucks, fast food, Mad Greek Cafe, Primm Valley Casino, and outlet malls.
JoJo's OC Tournament #3 - Round 4 Match 2: Amaki Castillo Vs. Blake Falstaff and Mr. Moon
Already Round 1 is off to an intense start, and the stakes for our players are only going to remain this high all throughout the Round! That said, if you’re catching this the night it goes live, you also have a few hours left yet to influence the previous match, a frantic fan-favorite footrace through a Soul Train. Credit to u/YukkiRose for the match concept. Scenario: “Something’s… Bugging me, Moon.” Blake Falstaff admitted to her furry friend as she stepped off of a plane and began to step through the airport. “Yeah? And what’s that?” Mr. Moon trails around the detective’s feet, looking up at her curiously for a moment before back down at his paw. He’d been able to come along with her directly on the plane with a few phone calls and paperwork registering him as an emotional support animal, even though both he and his partner knew he’d never emotionally supported a thing in his life. “We’re walking into a trap, I’m sure of it.” Blake answers, plain and simple, going and grabbing one of her bags off a rack. “Oh, absolutely,” he responds, “but hey, we got outta the last obvious trap richer in information, yeah?” “Also, be on guard in general,” Blake says, “but don’t look it. Saw someone scoping us out on the plane when she thought I wasn’t looking.” Disembarking shortly after them, a Japanese tourist dressed unassumingly… So it seemed. Amaki Castillo lifted up the brim of her flat, floppy hat to squint and get a closer look at the disembarking woman, failing to notice the cat who had blended into the crowd. “Was that..? No, couldn’t be. What’d be the odds..?” Both young women, not long ago, had been sitting around their respective team-spaces alone, when a young man’s voice had begun to come crackling out of respective cell phones. They didn’t even need to answer it in order for him to start up. “Er… Hello? Yeah uh, listen… Oh, I’ve never done this on my own…” The voice was unfamiliar to both girls, a far cry from the soothing, confident, dulcet drawl that usually accompanied electronic devices suddenly speaking to them. “Anyway, uh… This is T. Uh, I’m, uh… Broadcasting from somewhere in Egypt. Some things have happened, and I’m not exactly on, uh, speaking terms with my co-host right now, but… I’m on your side, I swear. For real. Anyway, uh… Right, stuff. Some stuff happened, I had to go underground, spent some time doing shows at this… This club, place, in Egypt, the ‘House of the Rising Sun,’ but. Shit, someone’s coming! Listen, my ‘Circuit Wanderer’ can’t fight on its own, but I’ll absolutely make it worth your whiles if you can get me out! I wound up tricked by the owner, ‘Poker Face,’ into owing a lot of money here, trying to find out more things for you guys, and if someone doesn’t get me out soon I’ll-” The transmission cut off there. Naturally the kindhearted Amaki and extremely curious Blake were quick to heed the call. Blake Falstaff, by now, was savvy to the ways of the stand-using world, the rumor, the intrigue… She’d already heard of the House of the Rising Sun, and all it took was some homework and Mr. Moon following the right people around to get a location. Amaki, on the other hand, relied on a seedy stand-using underbelly she’d become all too acquainted to during her brief absence from her team’s base of operations. People she’d been owed favors by, people sworn to secrecy on her identity, hearsay… Really, though, not all that different a set of sources from Blake’s. Somewhere in Egypt, a stout man entered a lavish office space, where a man in a top hat and cane sat, stroking a tiger affectionately. “Uh, Mr. Face? There’s a, er, situation.” “Hmm? And what, if you would actually inform me, is urgent enough that it cannot wait until Bill Watterson here and I are done with our bonding?” The tiger, like a cat a quarter of its size, nuzzles the man’s hand. “Sir,” the man answers, looking around, “three of ‘those individuals’ have been asking around about this place, by name… our spies say they know you’ve ‘got T,’ as well…” “A crowd of self-professed heroes on a quest to rescue a young fool’s soul from his gambling debts, hmm?” Scritch, scritch. “Do not impede them. I could make something… truly, unquestionably memorable out of this predicament. We could host a whole gala ‘welcoming’ them, in fact! What know we about these investigators three~?” Poker Face’s features lit up with great interest as his subordinate spoke, showing him photos, transcripts, and extensive information on the three of them. Blake and Mr. Moon were the first to arrive to the ballroom. Immediately, they were taken aback by the room’s sheer size and garish decor. “Dear, god, it’s hideous… wait, is that a chocolate fountain?” A handful of people were waltzing on the dance floor, enjoying themselves and being oblivious to the kidnapping. Amaki entered through a separate entrance. “Well, this is...something” she said, disdainfully reminded of her fellow idols’ aesthetic sensibilities. At least the music isn’t as obnoxious. The three visitors remained on-guard, scoping out the area. They were on edge; even more so than a normal trip, the hasty and scared call reminded them of what could be at stake. They stalked through the crowd, looking for this owner, ‘Poker Face’... The music seemed to skip, crackle, and then eventually stop. Soon, like clockwork, a voice played over the scene. Not the original host of Stand Proud, not the boy who had called them to action here, but a old voice that was both cheery and threatening at the same time. “Ah… Hello there. Can you hear me? Hmm…. Here’s a test. Raise your right hand into the air if you can hear me. The cast, too.” Amaki and Blake looked around; no one else in the ballroom seemed to be hearing the voice that spoke to them. “... This is a trap.” Amaki thought to herself. “I raise my hand, and he sends some goons after me… And what was that about a cat…?” Blake and Mr. Moon had much the same thoughts in their head, and several seconds passed without any out-of-place movement. The voice spoke up again. “Hrmmm…. Perhaps you can’t hear me… Or maybe you aren’t quite sure of the situation, hmm? How about this… Raise your right hand, or the boy you’ve come here for gets shipped off, to pay off the debts he has collected. Oh, but that would take such a long time, wouldn’t it…? Maybe even his life…?” Blake bit her bottom lip. ‘Shipping off’ implied some kind of off-the-grid slave labor… Maybe she could track it down, but… Ultimately, she decided it was too much of a risk to play with a boys life like that. She glanced at Mr. Moon, raising her right hand slowly. Though the animal glowered, he too knew what could be at stake here, raising his own paw slowly off the ground. On the other side of the ballroom, Amaki did the same, her heart beating. She broke into a sweat, a life was at serious stake here… She tried her best to stop from hyperventilating. Blake and Amaki looked around the ballroom, and soon spotted each other. “There we go!” The voice said cheerily. “You are all fine people! Strong spirit! A sense of right and wrong! Good show, good show! Speaking of good shows… I have a number of every influential people sitting around me right now. Not like the peons on that floor, no, the real top dollar, and they’ve agreed to partake in a little gamble… Amaki Castillo, against Blake Falstaff and her intrepid companion… Or perhaps I’ve gotten that backwards? Ha ha ha ha!” As the man laughed, Amaki’s stomach dropped further, and Mr. Moon began to dully growl in anger. Blake’s mind was racing. “Now, the take I stand to gain from this little wager is astounding, enough to pay off your little friend’s debt a dozen fold. Fight to the last, and he will be freed! If you refuse… He will find his own way to pay off these debts!” Amaki gulped. ‘Find his own way to pay off the debts….’ The words conjured up horrifying visions in her mind…. Of work, of sickness, of death… This boy’s life was at risk, he had the sword above his head… But with a deep breath, Amaki found her resolve, a fire burning in her eyes. Fighting to save a life… She wouldn’t let this death come to pass. She let another life be extinguished. “Saving that kid could save a lot of other people too… I bet he has good intel. What do you say, Mr. Moon?” Blake glanced at the cat by her feet. “You in?” The cat made a yawning meow, but to Blake, the meaning was crystal clear. ”That kid’ll die without this. Of course I’m in.” The voice left with its parting words. “Are you all ready? Found your resolve? Make this a show for the ages! THREE! TWO! ONE! …” “OPEN THE GAME!” Location: A formal ballroom/banquet hall in the House of the Rising Sun, in Egypt, a story above the casino section seen in the location’s previous appearance. It’s a large room with a dance floor in the center, a fountain on the top, a bar on one end, a buffet on the other end, and a eight tables on either side of the dance floor. There’s a bunch of people on the floor and at the tables, as well as one at the bar. Food includes cheeses, fruits, crackers, and a chocolate fountain. The ceiling has a chandelier, large and ornate, in the center dangling down. It seems to be the only reflective surface not outright brought into the arena by the players, but it is also a lot of them to work with. There is a balcony up top. No one is there yet. Amaki starts by the bar. Blake and Moon start at the bottom of the buffet. Goal: RETIRE your opponent in the midst of this formal outing. A potential ally and good man’s life depends on it.
“Avdol, your fire may explode the fuel tanks. And Jotaro, I’m sure you don’t want to punch a hole in the plane. Now is the time to let my silent Stand, Hierophant Green, do its job.“ Just because you’ve found your resolve to save a man’s life doesn’t mean that you’re ready to burn everything to the ground. Protect the ballroom from as much harm as you can, and don’t harm it yourself!
“Are we doin’ it, Okuyasu?“ “Only if you ain’t chicken! LET’S WRECK IT!” The people around here are aiding and abetting debt imprisoning regardless if they know it or not… And it might be nice to let Mr. Moon let out some anger from being treated as second fiddle! Destroy and damage as much of the ballroom as you can! It’s not like they can’t afford the repairs!
